Iran’s Commercial Complex Fire Claims 11 Lives
Shahriar Governor Sajjad Baranji identified the site as the Arghavan complex, located in Phase 4 of Andisheh, where the fire erupted Tuesday evening, according to Iran's semi-official media.
The scale of the affected structure underscores the gravity of the incident — the complex houses more than 250 commercial units alongside 50 office spaces, Baranji said.
Emergency response teams from Shahriar and surrounding districts were mobilized almost immediately after the alarm was raised, with firefighting crews launching operations without delay, the governor added.
Of the 41 casualties, Baranji said some were transported to nearby medical facilities while others received treatment at the scene.
By Tuesday, the head of Andisheh's Fire Department had reported that all individuals trapped by the rapidly advancing flames and smoke had been brought out safely and the building fully evacuated.
Investigators believe the fire's unusually swift spread was directly tied to the building's composite exterior facade, which acted as a conduit for flames racing across the structure's outer shell.
Authorities have yet to determine the origin of the blaze, with an official investigation still underway.
