Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes on Tehran Fuel Sites
In a message posted on the platform owned by the US technology company X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the consequences could be severe for civilians living nearby. “Residents face long-term damage to their health and well-being. Contamination of soil and groundwater could have generational impacts,” he wrote, highlighting the potential environmental and public-health risks from the destruction.
Araghchi also urged that Israel be held accountable internationally, demanding consequences for what he labeled as violations of the laws of war. He called for punishment of Israel “for its war crimes.”
The tensions come after Israel and the United States carried out coordinated assaults on Iran beginning Feb. 28. The attacks have reportedly resulted in the deaths of roughly 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, further intensifying the regional confrontation.
In response, Iran has launched retaliatory operations using drones and missiles. These strikes have targeted Israel as well as neighboring countries such as Jordan and Iraq, along with Gulf states that host American military facilities.
